วันนี้ 15 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2568 สื่อของกัมพูชา รายงานว่า เมื่อวันเสาร์ (13 ธ.ค. 2568) ที่ผ่านมา หลังจากที่ประธานาธิบดี โดนัลด์ ทรัมป์ แห่งสหรัฐอเมริกา และนายกรัฐมนตรีอันวาร์ อิบราฮิม ประธานอาเซียนแห่งมาเลเซีย เรียกร้องกัมพูชาและไทยยุติการปะทะกันด้วยอาวุธ ได้มีพระภิกษุสงฆ์หลายร้อยรูปมารวมตัวกัน ณ วัดอุณนาลม กรุงพนมเปญ เข้าร่วมพิธีเรียกร้องให้พระสงฆ์ไทยวิงวอนรัฐบาลและกองทัพของตนยึดมั่นในข้อตกลงสันติภาพ เพื่อให้ประชาชนในทั้งสองประเทศสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติ

พระอาจารย์เซง เยธ ยังกล่าวเสริมขึ้นมาอีกว่าว่า “วันนี้ข้าพเจ้ามาพูดกับท่าน ไม่ใช่เพราะความกลัว แต่ในฐานะเพื่อนบ้านที่ดี ข้าพเจ้าขอพูดกับท่านทั้งหลายในฐานะบุตรธิดาของพระพุทธเจ้า ผู้มีศาสนาเดียวกัน ขอให้เสียงแห่งการเจรจาเข้ามาแทนที่เสียงแห่งสงคราม ขอให้เราแก้ไขความขัดแย้งทั้งหมดด้วยการเจรจาอย่างสันติ โดยยึดหลักแห่งความเมตตากรุณา ขอให้แสงแห่งธรรมส่องสว่างแก่ทั้งสองชาติ นำทางเรากลับสู่หนทางอันประเสริฐแห่งความปรองดองและความเจริญรุ่งเรืองร่วมกันระหว่างสองประเทศ คือกัมพูชาและไทย

Hundreds of Buddhist monks at Wat Ounnalom in Phnom Penh participated in a ceremony urging Thailand’s Buddhist monks to appeal to their government and military to uphold the peace agreement so that people in both countries can coexist peacefully.

The ceremony took place on Saturday, following calls from US President Donald Trump and ASEAN Chair, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to end armed clashes between Cambodia and Thailand.

The ceremony came after reports that the Thai military had defied the peace agreement, continuing shelling and deploying F-16 fighter jets to target civil infrastructure and villages indiscriminately, causing mass displacement.

According to updated figures released by the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) as of Saturday evening, more than 379,000 people have been displaced across seven provinces since the Thai invasion of Cambodia entered its eighth day.

The data shows that a total of 112,648 families, or 379,047 individuals, have been forced to flee their homes since fighting escalated on December 7. Among the displaced population, 197,127 are women and 94,348 are children, highlighting the severe humanitarian impact on vulnerable groups.

The hardest-hit province is Banteay Meanchey, where 44,413 families—equivalent to 151,506 people—have been displaced. This is followed by Siem Reap, which is hosting 32,708 displaced families, or 104,895 people, many of whom fled from neighbouring border provinces.

Senior Buddhist monk Venerable Yon Seng Yeath, speaking as a Cambodian Buddhist and neighbour to the Thai people, said: “Please, Sangha of Thailand, speak to your government and your people. The victims of this conflict—the innocent civilians living along the Cambodian border—have suffered greatly in the past few days of fighting. I hope that Buddhism can serve as a guide to help the two nations come together.”

He said that he was speaking to the Thai people not as an enemy, but as a friend in the Dharma.

“I speak to you today not out of fear, but as good neighbours,” Venerable Seng Yeath said.

“I am speaking to you as sons and daughters of the Buddha, sharing the same religion. Let the sound of dialogue replace the sounds of war. Let us resolve all differences through peaceful negotiations, guided by the principles of compassion and loving-kindness. May the light of the Dharma shine upon both nations, guiding us back to the noble path of harmony and mutual prosperity between our two countries, Cambodia and Thailand.”

Venerable Seng Yeath said that he knows the two nations share a long and sometimes bitter history, but they must live alongside each other. This land cannot be divided between the Thai and Cambodian people. Peace is always possible, while war is always harmful—it is never the best option.

He hopes that Cambodians and Thai people will leave a legacy for future children, teaching them to come together and communicate in a peaceful manner.

He hoped that the two nations will coexist peacefully. The best path forward is a ceasefire starting now.

Military might is not the solution; instead, the strength of compassion and loving-kindness can guide the two peoples toward lasting peace, he added.”
